FENG SHUI, RETOLD AND REVIEWED

Last night, I watched the movie called Feng Shui starring Kris Aquino as its lead actress. It is already on its 4th week of run in theaters here, thats why I was eager to watch it.

Based on the critic's reviews and those who have watch the film, its an awesome Filipino drama-suspense thriller. In this blog, ill gonna give my views as an ordinary movie goer.

Feng Shui is a movie obviously based on the Chinese beliefs and/or tradition of putting lucky charms, and anything that may bring good luck to a person or family. A mirror is the focus of the story. It brings good luck to anyone who put it outside their house. Its called "bagwa" i dont know the real spelling, but its sound like that.

Joy Ramirez (kris Aquino) got a "bagwa" which a bus passenger sitting by her side unintentionally left it. She did try to call the attention of the man but her efforts proves futile.

Before going home she drop by the bakery in the neighborhood. The owner of the bakery saw the lucky mirror and told joy that is brings good luck to whoever has it in their homes. She take a look at the mirror and saw herself on it.

True enough Joy got lucky in her career as well as his husbands'. But with each luck brought she got, a life of people who have seen their image on the mirror is at risk. The guy who have left the mirror in the bus was killed by a snake near Joy's house and the owner of the bakery died of leptospirosis, a disease caused by the rat. It so happen that birthdate of these people are evident on death. Like the guy who was born on the year of the snake and the bakery ownner born on the year of the rat.

Despite the luck she got, Joy isnt happy for she found out that Inton, her husband is going with a former lover Dina. Yet she love Inton that much as well as her children.

Next blessing came when Joy won in the supermarket raffle. The roving guard of the subdivision died at the cockpit site, and he was born under the year of the rooster.

Joy's house is now full of mysteries and other inhabitants that they just feel. In trying to solve the mystery behind the mirror, Joy went to the widow of the man who have left the mirror in the bus.

Accordingly she got it at the house which she cant sold when she was then an estate broker. She wanted the mirror back and willing to pay , but joy refused for she knew the curse wont be stopped even if the mirror will be at the formers hand.

Together with her friends, they consulted a feng shui expert and they have learned that the original owner of the "bagwa" are two chinese brother and sister. They were landlords in their place but when their slaves were into revenge, the brother escape from the dilemma while the girl, who happen to be the lotus feet (a tradition of japanese in which they put metals on the ladies feet so that it wont grow as normal as it is). The outrage of the people catapulted and resulted to the burning of the house. While the house was in hell of heat, the poor lady together with the mirror was left inside. The lady then cursed the mirror that whoever will get hold of it, will be lucky but life of people around will be the price it will cost.

Joy tried to ask for the solution as to stop the curse but the old man told her that he dont know and he has to read books to be able to find the answers.

On their way out, Joy's friend was trembling for she used to see her image on the mirror.

When luck came to Joy again, her friends life was at risk. A drunk cost her life by throwing her at the window, she landed at the cases of REd HOrse beer below. She was born under year of the horse.

The feng shui expert called Joy and told her about how to stop the curse, the only way according to him is to deny any grace or luck that may come her way, only then she can destroy the mirror and it wont be whole again.

But Joy never get into the advice as she cannot deny the child, a friend of his own child who was in danger. She donated a blood to save his. After the blood transfer, she got a premonition that it would be Inton's life be the next.

She called her friend to drive her children home for safekeeping as she have to go to Inton at the moment.

She went to Inton to let him take precautions but Inton was shoot by Dina's husband whom he is engage in a relationship with. Inton, under the year of the dog, shoot by a man with a dog tattoe on his arm.

Joy's children together with her friend, trek the national high way when they spotted a vehicle in front of them full of chicken and cow. Joy's children are under the year of chicken and cow

The next day when Joy arrived home, an attorney ask her to sell the lucky mirror but joy refused. Afterwhich, she destroy it.

Later, her friend came together with her children. Joy was very happy because theyre all safe and she proudly told her friend that she has stopped the curse. Then her friend told her that they also have a surprise for them.

Her children came out from the house together with their father , Inton. And Joy came into her senses. They're all dead. Her friend as well as her children got accident at the highway. . . .

TECHNICAL ASPECT

The movie is one of its kind, its not the usual stereotyped Pinoy horror movie and Director Rono is at his best for this one. Cinematography is great, editing is superba and of course the sound effect is awesome.

ACTING
Kris on her best so far, as what her mother in an interview told the press. Yes, she is great in this movie, she has proven that she can be called an actress other than being the Oprah of the philippines and queen of daytime talk.
